2008 Ford Explorer

Not much has changed on the 2008 Ford Explorer over previous models; it still maintains the features and styles that have made it one of America’s most popular and demanding full-size sport utility vehicles available on the market today.

The 2008 Ford Explorer comes in two engine flavors: A 4.0L V-6 that produces 210HP and 254FTLB of torque or the 4.6L V-8 pushing 292HP and 300FTLB of torque. The 4.6L V-8 features a Single-Over-Head-Cam design with three (3) valves per cylinder for a total of 24 valves.

This engine features Variable Valve Timing to increase air flow and performance at higher RPM’s as well as the Charge Motion Control Valve system to regulate air flow into the intake ports. The Block for the 4.6L is made of Iron while the heads are cast in Aluminum for reduced weight and longevity.
